Buying

Is the license per person or per team?

Per person. One license covers you on every machine you own — Mac at work, Mac at home, that Linux box. A six-person studio buys six licenses.

What does it cost after the early-bird?

$149 instead of $99. That's the only change. No feature gates, no legacy plan, no monthly anything.

Will future versions cost extra?

Possibly. If a major v2 ships someday it may be a paid upgrade. Your v1.x keeps working forever either way — offline, even if this company disappears.

How do refunds work?

30 days, any reason. Reply to your Lemon Squeezy receipt email. We don't interrogate people who want refunds.

Do I need an account?

No account exists. Buy, get a key by email, paste it in. It validates once online and then works offline forever.

Switching & your data

I have years of history in Harvest. Can it come with me?

Yes. Drag your Detailed Time CSV onto the app — dry-run preview first, nothing writes until you confirm. Or use free concierge migration (first 10): send the CSV and rate card, get back a ready timesheet.db within a day.

What about Toggl?

Toggl exports parse too (Project, Duration, Description), but Tags don't map to clients. Try self-serve first; if counts look off, email us.

Where exactly is my data?

One file: ~/Documents/owntime/timesheet.db (SQLite). Receipts beside it in ~/Documents/owntime/receipts/. Copy it, back it up, open it in any SQLite browser. It's yours.

Can two Macs stay in sync?

Yes: point Settings → Backups & sync at iCloud Drive/Dropbox/Syncthing, or mirror to your own R2/S3 bucket. One rule: one machine writes at a time.

What if I want to leave owntime later?

Copy timesheet.db — plain SQLite, readable by anything. Export CSV/XLS reports anytime. Nothing locks in; that would make us exactly what this product protests.

Product

Does it work offline?

Fully. Tracking, entries, invoicing, reports — all local. The only online touches are an optional update check and one-time license validation.

Is there a mobile app?

No, deliberately. Phone timers are on the honest list of things Harvest and Toggl do better. Desktop is where billable work happens; that's what we build.

Team features?

Not built, on purpose. Each person tracks locally; roll-ups can happen via exported files. Multi-user servers are the subscription engine we refuse to run.

Can it track what I do automatically?

Opt-in Timeline records frontmost window titles locally every ~15s. Review at night, select blocks, log as entries. Screenshots, keystrokes, network sync: never.

macOS says the app 'can't be verified'?

We haven't bought Apple's notarization stamp yet ($99/yr for approval, not safety). Right-click → Open bypasses it permanently. Notarization lands before v1.0.

Windows and Linux?

Built from the same codebase via CI. Ask for a link while the download page is macOS-first.
