Help · Clients and projects
Clients, projects and tasks
Three levels, and no more. A client has projects, a project can have tasks, and every hour you track lands on a project.
What each one is for
- Client who gets the invoice. This is where the address, the default rate and the currency live.
- Project the unit you bill. It carries the rate, an optional hours budget, and an optional fixed fee.
- Task optional, for splitting a project further. Useful for tracking design against build time without making two projects.
They might be named differently here
Pick your industry and the nouns change: a law firm sees Matters, an ad agency sees Campaigns, a construction firm sees Stages. The structure underneath is identical. It is the same file, the same features, and no industry gets extra behaviour.
Currencies
Set a currency per client. A studio billing in two countries gets the right symbol on each invoice without a second file. The tax label and rate are yours to set too, since the right answer depends entirely on where you are.
Retiring something
Archiving a project takes it out of the pickers without deleting its history, so old invoices and reports still add up. Deleting is available too, with an Undo, for the ones you made by mistake.
Adding a lot at once
Import a CSV of clients and projects rather than typing them. No time entries required, and re-importing the same list changes nothing.
