Help · The app
Industry vocabulary
Lawyers do not have projects. Agencies do not have matters. Both of them bill hours. So owntime lets the words change and leaves everything else alone.
What changes
- The nouns. Projects might read as Matters, Stages, Campaigns or Jobs, and the headings, buttons and empty states follow.
- A couple of presets. Some industries arrive with a rounding rule or a daily goal already set, because that is the norm there.
- Tag suggestions. A few obvious tags get suggested as you type in the tag field. Suggestions only, never forced.
- One accent colour, so the app stops looking like someone else’s.
What does not change
Nothing else. Every feature is available to every industry, and no industry gets extra behaviour. An accountant and a photographer are running the same app with different labels.
This matters more than it sounds. The moment an industry picker starts turning features on and off, you have ten products to maintain and nine of them are broken.
Switching
Settings → your world. Switching renames things going forward and resets the presets to that industry’s defaults, since carrying a stale rounding rule across would be worse than resetting it. Your data is not touched, and nothing is deleted.
Which ones exist
Sole practitioners, freelancers, photographers, design teams, advertising and marketing, architecture, construction, accounting and finance, and law firms, plus a general setting that uses plain words. If yours is not there, general is the honest answer rather than a wrong fit.
